FROM CREATION TO THE CROSS
The curriculum "From Creation to the Cross" was put together out of the need our particular Release Time program had.
We found that teaching a Bible study to public school children in particular had unique challenges.
For example: The public school science curriculum is based on a foundation in evolution. When we began to teach creation from a Biblical standpoint, we had questions from the students. Their questions were simple ones, but needed clarification. One student asked "Is it true that we evolved from monkey’s?" Another asked " What about the big bang theory, did God do that?" By listening to their questions we understood the need to set the record straight.
It is, however, legal to teach Creationism along side Evolution in the public school. We can legally present both sides of the issue in an understandable fashion. Some schools are attempting to do just that. To me teaching the two theories side by side is okay because the LIGHT is greater than the DARKNESS! God’s truth will overcome the lies! Have no doubt!

THE FOLLOWING IS A LIST OF LESSONS THAT ARE INCULDED IN THE CURRICULUM
SECTION ONE: FOR GRADES 3-4
LESSON ONE:
HOW WE GOT THE BIBLE
. Historical information is given here. Children want to know where this book came from and why we have to obey it.LESSON TWO:
THE BEGINNING/ CREATION
. The six literal days of creation and the one day of ‘rest’ are taught here. The children need to know that God is Creator, he did it all!LESSON THREE:
THE BEGINNING/ CREATION CONT.- THE FALL OF MAN
.The reason for Jesus’ death on the cross is found here. The children need to know why Jesus had to come and do what He did.
LESSON FOUR &
LESSON FIVE:
NOAH AND THE FLOOD
. Historical information is given here as well. Understanding that Noah’s Ark is not a fictional story is crucial. Many children grow up hearing this story as fiction. The facts and evidences in archaeology are also presented here. Two segments are planned for this lesson. In segment one we go over the facts, both Biblical (what scripture says) and from an archaeological standpoint. In segment two we show a video documentary of the place where the Bible says the Ark came to rest (country of Turkey).
LESSON SIX &
LESSON SEVEN:
MOSES AND THE TEN COMMANDMENTS
. Two segments are suggested here to provide a slower repetition of the material. This lesson, along with the lesson on the Fruit of the Spirit (behavioral guidelines), are two areas we try to work on the most.LESSON EIGHT:
MORALS AND VALUES FROM THE BIBLE (Behavior)
. This is a lesson based on the Fruit of the Spirit. Students are presented with reasons to control their behavior. We also suggest giving them the opportunity to practice doing this in mini skits with their classmates during the Release Time hour.LESSON NINE:
DAVID AND GOLIATH
. This lesson provides a foundation of faith in God and shows what fear can do to you if you let it control you. It was fear of the Giant and lack of faith in God that crippled the Israelite army. David displayed great faith in God by confronting the object of their fear.LESSON TEN:
THE FIERY FURNACE
. The damaging effects of pride and jealousy can also be crippling. That point is brought out in this lesson. Many children have trouble understanding jealousy as well as coping with it. It was jealousy that started the whole mess, pride promoted it, but it was faith in God that settled it!LESSON ELEVEN:
DANIEL AND THE LOINS DEN
. Another classic example of what damage jealousy can do. The children are taught here that trickery, lying and deceitfulness will backfire on you.LESSON TWELVE:
JONAH AND THE BIG FISH
. This lesson reinforces other lessons on behavior and faith. God’s mercy and grace are taught here as well. When we repent and follow God, he is faithful to forgive.LESSON THIRTEEN:
JESUS’ BIRTH AND LIFE
. The reason for the coming of Christ is reaffirmed here. Scripture is given to explain who Jesus is and why He came as well as how we can know for sure He is the messiah. The historical biblical account of His birth and life are gone over.LESSON FOURTEEN:
JESUS’ DEATH AND RESURRECTION
. Again the reason for the coming of Christ is reaffirmed here. Scripture is given to explain the events leading up to the death of Jesus on the cross, His resurrection and promise to come again.LESSON FIFTEEN:
PRAYER
. A lesson on the Lord’s Prayer. The importance of prayer and the substance of prayer are both taught here. Prayer, in fact, is stressed throughout the entire program!LESSON SIXTEEN:
BOOKS OF THE BIBLE
. Instruction on how to look up scripture, how to pronounce the different book names and who wrote each book is given here.LESSON SEVENTEEN:
FISHING IN THE BIBLE FOR COOL FACTS
. This lesson provides the opportunity to go over previous lessons. Repetition is one of the keys to learning.
SECTION TWO: FOR GRADES 5-8
SOME OF THE SAME LESSONS AS FOR GRADES 3-4 ARE GONE OVER HERE AS WELL.
Below is a list of lessons that are normally taught to this age group. Some lessons are repeats of those listed above. Lessons that are not listed above have an explanation of the subject matter with them.
NOTE: We are currently working on developing a High School Curriculum. This Curriculum will be based on questions teenage students have asked us themselves. You may be surprised at some of the questions we received! Be looking for a section on "Teen Curriculum" coming soon!
