St. Boniface Catholic Church
Harrison Township, Spencer County, Indiana

Baptisms, 1852 - 1880

These records were typed from actual church records; however, I was not familiar with what I was doing as this was my first attempt transcribing church records. Be warned not to rely on spellings of family names. Some names had as many as six variations.

These records begin in October 1852 although the parish was founded 1847 by Father Joseph Kundek, a missionary from Jasper, Indiana. Prior to 1852 baptisms were recorded in the register of St. Ferdinand Parish, Ferdinand, Indiana, which is about 8 miles north of Fulda. Early St. Boniface records may also have recorded a few events covering the present day St. Pius in Troy, St. John Chrysostom in New Boston, St. Meinrad in St. Meinrad and Mary Help of Christians in Mariah Hill.
