Fred Keller - Clara Zimmermann

Friedrich Johann "Fritz" Keller and Clara Zimmermann were married 6 May 1905 at St. Peter's Evangelical Church in Huff Township near Lamar, Indiana.

Fritz Keller was born 30 Aug 1877 in Harrison Township to Henry Keller and Magdalena Lottes. Henry Keller came to Spencer County as a child in 1845 from Langenreuth in Oberfranken, Bavaria. He was a Civil War veteran who served in Co. B, 42nd Indiana Infantry. Serving with him in the 42nd was his brother John Keller, who was captured at Chicamauga and died in the infamous Andersonville Prison in Georgia. Magdalena Lottes was born near Fulda, Indiana, the daughter of Johannes Lottes, an immigrant from Zips in Oberfranken, Bavaria, and Anna Hoerath from Frankenberg in Oberfranken.

Clara Zimmermann was born 5 July 1883 near Celestine in Hall Township, Dubois County,Indiana. She was the daughter of John Zimmermann and Emilie "Amelia" Wirsing. John Zimmermann was born in Canton Bern, Switzerland, and immigrated to Dubois County as a young man. Emilie Wirsing was born in Pittsburgh to German immigrants from Gotha and moved to Hall Township in Dubois County as a newborn child.


Paul Schaeffer - Nora Schulte

Paul John Schaeffer and Eleonora E. Schulte were married 11 Nov 1918 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Rockport, Indiana.

Paul Schaeffer was born 8 Nov 1891, the youngest of 12 children born to Louis Schaeffer and Elizabeth Keller. Louis was born in St. Jean de Basel in Lorraine, France. The Schaeffers were ethnic German and lived in part of Lorraine that was later annexed to Germany in 1871 after the Franco-Prussian War. The immigrant Schaeffer family lived in York Township in Dearborn County prior to moving to Fulda, Indiana in 1865. Four Schaeffer children eventually married and moved to Kentucky leaving only Louis and Jacob Schaeffer remaining in Harrison Township. Elizabeth Keller was born in Dudenhofen, Rheinpfalz, Bavaria, and immigrated to Harrison Township in 1853 with her parents.

Nora Schulte was 17 Oct 1898 on a farm in Carter Township near the Dubois County line. She was the daughter of August Schulte and Anna Schmidt, who belonged to St. Henry Catholic Church in St. Henry. The Schulte family moved to a farm north of Rockport in 1905. August Schulte's parent, both from the Kingdom of Hannover, married in Cincinnati in 1864. Anna Schmidt's father was born in Baden and her mother was born in St. Henry in Dubois County, Indiana.

Johannes Zimmermann - Emilie Wirsing

Johann Zimmermann and Emilie "Amelia" Wirsing were married 19 May 1874 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in then Columbia Township of Dubois County, Indiana. Johann immigrated 25 Mar 1872 from Canton Bern, Switzerland and moved to near Celestine, Indiana, where his sister, Maria Anna Keusch, lived. In 1887, after his sister had moved to Jasper, Johann moved to Huff Township near St. Peter's Evangelical Church in Spencer County.

Johann was born at Niederbottigen and baptized at Bümpliz near the City of Bern. His father was Christian Zimmerman, a citizen of Wohlen, and his mother was Elizabeth Winzenried, a citizen of Köniz. Other than his sister Anna, above, his siblings remained in the vicinity of Wohlen.

The parents of Emilie Wirsing were David Christian Wirsing and Agnes Koellner, immigrants from Waltershausen in the Duchy of Gotha. They were members of St. John's German-Evangelical Church at Bretzville, Indiana.
