Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is their eighth album and one of their
most recognized works. Although Paul says it did not start out that way, it was the
first theme album and was immensely popular. It starts out with the band introducing themselves in
SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND which leads directly into one of Ringo's most noted
vocals WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS. Both are excellent songs and start the album out
great. Next is LUCY IN THE SKY WITH DIAMONDS an excellent song written by John based on
a painting by his son Julian. GETTING BETTER once again combines John and Paul's talent, and is
very much like We Can Work It Out with Paul being the optimist and John throwing in the cynical
lines. FIXING A HOLE is a neat song by Paul.
SHE'S LEAVING HOME is another excellent Paul song with great backing vocals on the chorus.
BEING FOR THE BENEFIT OF MR. KITE is a fun song completely inspired by an old circus
poster John bought. WITHIN YOU WITHOUT YOU is a bad song by George and is the only down spot on this
album. I do not like any of his Eastern songs, but this is the best one. WHEN I'M SIXTY-FOUR is a cute
song written by Paul many years before. LOVELY RITA is a good
song by Paul. GOOD MORNING GOOD MORNING is a pretty good song John wrote about
Corn Flakes. The band then anounces their departure with SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND (REPRISE) a slightly
more pepped up version of the title song. But they are not done yet. The very last song A DAY IN THE LIFE is the
best song on the album and ends it with a bang. A great blend of a segment of Paul's song into John's masterpiece.
Fits together great, and is one of my all-time favorites. This is one of their most renowned albums as well as one
of their best.
